HIV National Week of Prayer – Free Tests this Sunday!

The HIV National Week of Prayer will be held March 4-10, 2012 and David Chapel is excited to participate. We believe that the church should not be a place for condemnation of those affected, but of prayer, support, and understanding. Furthermore, we believe that everyone needs to be armed with accurate information.

Download the HIV-AID educational brochure that was given out in church.

Here is more information on our involvement in this great cause:

  • David Chapel will be a host site for HIV/AIDS testing Sunday, March 4th from 10:30 am until 3:00 pm in rooms 4ABC and 7AB. Test results are confidential.
  • Pastor Parker will give special emphasis to HIV/AIDS in his sermon on Sunday.
  • Brochures with more information about this epidemic will be available at church.
  • Pastor Parker will be participating in The Black Faith-based Initiative’s Pastor’s Testing Day at Simpson United Methodist Church on Tuesday, March 6 at 10 am. The purpose of pastors publicly taking this test is to show their support for testing and to encourage their congregations to be tested themselves.
  • Thursday, March 8th the National Week of Prayer for the Healing of AIDS Celebration Service will be held at Simpson United Methodist Church at 7:00 pm.
  • The Women’s Ministry is pausing for prayer at noon on Friday, March 9th. No need to come to church, just pray wherever you are at the time.

Are you interested in providing spiritual care to persons with HIV/AIDS or cancer? Please sign up in the fellowship hall after church or contact the church office for the Care Communities workshop, Saturday, March 17, from 9 am – 10:30 am.
