Announcements for 9/2 – 9/8

  1. The Sunday school lesson for September 9th is: “Open Arms.” (James 2:1-10). Join us for study at 9:15 am.
  2. Let’s wish our senior adults “Happy September Birthday!”: Lee Henry, Wanda Johnson, Cheryl Graham, Margaret Boston, Emily Thompson, Pastor Joseph C Parker, Jr, Loretta Johnson, Curtis Davis, and Henry Gibson. We salute you!
  3. The church received thank you cards expressing appreciation for prayers and support from Sis. Awa Jangha & family, in the loss of her father, and from Sis. Farrie Harris & Shelly Broussard, in the loss of Bro. William “PeeWee” Harris. We  also received a “Thank You” card from Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church for our warm thoughts and prayers.
  4. The next women’s study of the book “Kingdom Woman” will be September 4th.  September 5th is the first Wednesday of the month and we’ll have Wednesday Night Worship instead of Bible Study. Also, Wednesday night Bible study will be on break on September 12th and resume on September 19th, at 7:00 pm
  5. The Health & Wellness Ministry presents “Healthy Living” with topics on Healthy Eating, Active Living and Controlling Stress. Classes are Saturdays at 11am through September 22nd. Please see Rev. Barnetta Emerson to sign-up.
  6. The Senior Adult Ministry annual weekend is next weekend!. Join us for lunch at Pappadeaux’s on Saturday from 1-3pm, at your own cost. A head count in required so please sign-up today in the fellowship hall. Next Sunday, our morning worship guest preacher will be Rev. Ivie Rich of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church.
  7. The Deacon’s & Minister’s Wives ministry, invite you to spend time with your Seniors by offering to “take a senior to lunch” during the month of September. Sign-up sheets are available each Sunday through September 23rd.
  8. Join MWFA for bowling and fellowship, at the Highland Lanes, on Saturday, September 29th from 1-3 pm for $15 per person inclusive of bowling and shoe rental. Sign up after Church through September 16th.
  9. If you are a member and have not taken the SHAPE class, sign-up will soon available for the October 6th class. This class helps you identify and learn more about your spiritual gifts.
  10. Plans are underway for the 26th Pastoral Appreciation. Celebrate with us on Sunday, October 14th, at 10:30 am. This year’s theme: “Our Pastor: The Responsible Shepherd” (Acts 20:28-30). Invite a guest! 
  11. Important elections are approaching, make sure you’re properly registered in time to vote. If you have moved, changed your name, never registered, recently turned eighteen, or are now off paper, fill out a registration card in the fellowship hall after service.
  12. The church office will be closed on Monday, September 3 in observance of Labor Day.
