Announcements for 7/29 – 8/4

  1. The Sunday school lesson for August 5th is: “Plan.” (Nehemiah 4:1-3, 6-9, 14-18). Join us for study at 9:15 am.
  2. The church received a thank you card. “Thank you David Chapel for the generous love offering given to me for being Woman of the Year 2018. I will always cherish the honor. May God continue to bless you, Sis. Mary Caldwell.”
  3. The Women’s Enrichment Ministry thanks all who contributed to the Family Eldercare 2018 Fan Drive. Your outstanding support provided 13 fans and $920 in donations towards the purchase of fans for the elderly, disabled and families with young children.
  4. The Women’s Bible study will resume August 7th, with book study “Kingdom Woman.” The next Wednesday night Bible study with Pastor Parker will be August 1, 2018, at 7:00 pm. Wednesday night worship will be held August 8th.  Please make plans to attend.
  5. Sis. Jakki Dozier presents a workshop on “Getting Started with Medicare” on Saturday, August 11th, from 10 am to noon in the fellowship hall. This workshop provides Medicare basics such as options, eligibility, enrollment, and your rights. This event is limited to twenty participants. Sign-up today, see Sis. Dozier in the fellowship hall following worship.
  6. The Health & Wellness Ministry presents “Healthy Living.” Learn how to manage Type 2 Diabetes with topics on ‘Healthy Eating, Active Living and Controlling Stress.” Classes are August 18 – September 22, at 11:00 am. Please see Rev. Barnetta Emerson to sign-up.
  7. The iAM ministry will be collecting schools supplies through August 31st. Please place donated supplies in the designated container in the fellowship hall.  For more information please contact Rev. Ryan Sutton.
  8. Please join the MWFA Ministry for a night of bowling and fellowship, at the Highland Lanes, on  September 29th from 1-3 pm. The cost is $15 per person. Sign up will be available August 19th to September 16th.
  9. Interested in a “Trip of a Lifetime,” a flight for veterans to visit the memorial built in their honor in Washington, D.C.  Please see Deacon Calvin Zanders for more information.
  10. The Women’s Enrichment Ministry has tickets for purchase for the “Sisters United” event at the Frank Erwin Center, September 9. Sign-up in the fellowship hall through August 12th. Group tickets cost $46.50.

  12. The senior adult ministry presents “RED Carpet Premiere.” August 18, at 5:00 pm. For your FREE movie pass, please sign up in the Fellowship Hall after worship service through August 12th.
  13. The Austin Police Department would like to invite YOU to the 3rd Annual I.C.A.R.E Community Conference,  Wednesday, August 1st thru Saturday, August 4, 2018. It’s free, but you MUST REGISTER to attend. For more information, visit www.oclcorp.org or see the flyer in the back hallway.
  14. Austin Community College presents the Building Bridges Town Hall Meeting on August 4th, at 1:30 pm at the Millennium Youth Entertainment Center regarding “Options for Careers after Re-Entry” for formerly incarcerated persons. Hear from formerly incarcerated students who have overcome barriers. For more information, please see the flyer posted in the back hallway.
