Michael Jordan is a native of Richmond, Virginia and has an everlasting passion for music. Michael received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education from Hampton University in May of 2005 and Master of Arts degree in Worship Studies from Liberty University in May of 2009. He currently serves as the full-time Minister of Music, Worship and Fine Arts at David Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Austin, Texas.
Michael was educated in the Richmond Public School system and moved on to further his education at Hampton University and Liberty University. It was these experiences that helped to cultivate his gift as he was given a great deal of freedom of expression through music.
During his matriculation at Hampton University, Michael studied closely under Dr. Carl G. Harris (piano studies) and Mr. Royzell Dillard (choral studies). Michael served as the student accompanist and student conductor for the Hampton University Choir and Hampton University Concert Choir, served as musical director and student director for the Hampton University Gospel Choir: HIS CHOSEN SOUNDS, and also as the pianist and organist for the Hampton University Memorial Church. Michael has also accompanied and overseen numerous community choirs as well as generated many new concepts, ideas, and processes within local churches.
Michael has had the opportunity to work and associate with Greg Roberts and Soulful Celebration, James West and God’s Anointed, Earl Bynum, Peggy Britt, Darryl Houston, Gaye Arbuckle, Kurt Carr, Kierra (Ki-Ki) Sheard, Pop Winans, Shirley Cesear, Kirk Franklin, William Becton, Dorinda Clark-Cole, Rodney Bryant, and more. He is also a member of the Collegiate Music Education National Conference (CMENC), and actively attends the Hampton University Minister’s Conference and the Gospel Music Workshop of America (GMWA).
Outside of his love for playing, he also composes and arranges music. Most of his compositions, arrangements, and collaborative works were performed and recorded by the Hampton University Gospel Choir, Greg Roberts and Soulful Celebration, and Full Gospel Baptist Fellowship Mass Choir. His passion for church music continues to grow and develop as he moves into new experiences and endeavors.
