Pastor’s Wife – LaVerne Morris-Parker


J. LaVerne Morris-Parker is a native of Macon, Georgia. She received her B.A., degree in History and Political Science in 1974 from Fort Valley State University (with honors) and holds a Master of Public Administration in Planning and Finance from the University of Georgia (1976).

She is a Certified Financial Manager and a Realtor with Parker Realty. As an active member of David Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, she serves as President of the Greeters and Assistant Coordinator for the Youth Ministry. In 2011, she retired, completing 23 years of employment for the Texas General Land Office as a Strategic Planning Coordinator.

Currently, she is employed as a Labor Relations Coordinator for the City of Austin. She is a member of the Beta Psi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Austin Chapter of The Links Incorporated, Central Texas Chapter of the National Forum of Black Public Administrators, and an Associate with the Austin Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated. Mrs. Parker has served as a board member of the Capital Area Private Defender Service and currently serves as a board member of The Ann Richards School Foundation. She volunteers with other organizations in the community.
